high priest retreat

Kariuk: A Retreat of Veyr
By Charlie,  High Priest of Veyr, City of Odra
During a journey through the lands of Kao'a, I followed the trail leading to the Old Temple of Regeneration. The map still marks the location, though time has left its mark upon the site. Upon arrival, I found no active shrine, no guardians, and no quests awaiting travelers. Only weathered ruins remained, standing as silent witnesses to an earlier age.
Yet the journey itself revealed something greater.
Not far away lies Kariuk, a quiet settlement of cabins nestled among the wilderness. With its campfire, simple shelters, and forest paths, Kariuk feels less like a village and more like a retreat. It is easy to imagine priests of Veyr gathering here to rest, study, and seek wisdom away from the noise of the cities.
The trail from Kariuk to the Old Temple of Regeneration becomes a pilgrimage route. Travelers walk through the forests in contemplation, reflecting upon the teachings of Veyr before arriving at the ancient ruins. The destination is not treasure or reward, but understanding.
As High Priest of Veyr in the City of Odra, I see Kariuk as a sacred retreat where priests and pilgrims can gather around the fire pit, share stories of faith, and prepare themselves for service. The cabins offer shelter, the wilderness offers peace, and the ruins offer perspective.
The Old Temple of Regeneration may no longer serve its original purpose, but it remains important. It reminds us that kingdoms rise and fall, temples are built and forgotten, yet faith continues through those who remember.
Sometimes the most powerful sacred places are not the grand temples still filled with worshippers, but the quiet ruins that encourage us to listen.
May the light of Veyr guide all travelers who walk the path from Kariuk to the ancient temple.
