New series stargate

Title: Stargate Returns — And the Mystic Universe Reacts

Today, Amazon MGM Studios officially announced that a new Stargate series is in active development. After years of false starts, rumors, abandoned scripts, and shifting studio leadership, this is the most concrete confirmation we’ve had since Stargate Universe left the air in 2011.

The announcement confirms three major points:

  • Martin Gero (Atlantis, Blindspot, Quantum Leap) will serve as showrunner.
  • Brad Wright, co-creator of SG-1, Atlantis, and Universe, has returned to the franchise as consulting producer.
  • The new series is not a reboot — it continues existing canon rather than wiping the slate clean.

As someone whose own world-building grew alongside the rise and fall of SG:U, this news hits differently. In the Mystic Universe, our gates stretch across AW, DeltaWorlds, Virtual Paradise, and the Nexus network we’ve built over two decades. The idea of official Stargate canon continuing again brings back the same spark that inspired the Asecret Colony arc, the Nexus security overhaul, and the cross-platform megastation network.

For communities like ours — who never stopped building, expanding, or telling stories — this announcement feels like a reunion. A signal that exploration stories still matter. That worlds won’t be left unfinished. That the gate can open again.

We’ll be watching this one closely from the bridge of the SS Aurora.
More updates as they come in.
